Here's the story behind OTH . . .
On October 1, 2004 Tish Hill and Laurie Vachon opened the doors to Off the Hanger, LLC in beautiful downtown Plymouth, NH. What began as a frequent "what if . . . " topic when these two friends got together, quickly became reality when the storefront at 103 Main Street became available. Within days of viewing the empty space, the two signed the lease and began an unforgettable journey.
Tish and Laurie knew this was just what Plymouth had been waiting for! Plymouth State University, Plymouth Regional High, Newfound Regional High, Interlakes High, as well as local private schools including Holderness Prep, New Hampton Prep and Calvary Christian School would provide much of the clothing and accessories as well as a loyal clientèle for this award winning resale boutique! And boy have they!
Since its opening, Off the Hanger has strived to create a unique shopping experience for its customers. The store is extremely well organized, so well so, in fact, that many people have to ask if it's a used clothing store, or new! Both young and old can connect with the funky vibe that Off the Hanger's atmosphere provides. Make sure to check out both graffiti walls during your visit - Brooklyn based, it doesn't get any better than that!
Jewelry was the next logical step for these two entrepreneurs. Many customers comment on the selection of new, unique fashion jewelry, and plan their next visit around its shipment! You literally never know what you'll find, from funky 80s acrylic earrings, to tribal designs to pearls! The selection changes often, so keep your eyes open for your "new favorite" piece! Off the Hanger is also fortunate to carry a beautiful, high quality sterling silver line from Estrella de plata of Bellows Falls, VT.
In 2005, Off the Hanger had the distinct privilege of being named 'Best Recycled Chic Boutique' by New Hampshire Magazine - what an honor! Makes you want to come see what all the fuss is about, right?
Off the Hanger continues to keep the public talking with events like 'Live Model Day', where guest models strut their stuff (wearing OTH's stuff, of course!) in the windows and stop passers by in their tracks. Past models have included Plymouth Jazzercise instructors, local university and high school students, awareness groups, local waitresses representing area restaurants, and Off the Hanger's prized staff! Next time you visit Plymouth and hear music taking over Main Street, check out Off the Hanger, they may be hosting another 'Live Model Day'.
Off the Hanger has even hosted private shopping nights where the store is open for groups only. Prior arrangements can be made to provide appetizers and mocktails along with the music of your choice for a friend filled, funky shopping experience. Personal service can't be beat at Off the Hanger!
